Jethro Tull coming to Lichfield Cathedral
The Grammy Award-winning rock group Jethro Tull is to play at Lichfield Cathedral on Tuesday 2nd December at 19.30.
Postponed from last Christmas as a result of the pandemic, the group, whose music is marked by the distinctive vocal style and lead flute work of Ian Anderson, is to perform a repertoire of Christmas music, ancient and modern, and will be joined for some of the concert by the Cathedral Choristers.
Over the last 12 years, Ian Anderson has performed in many of the great Cathedrals and churches in the UK helping to raise much-needed funds for their preservation.
The concert is being sponsored by Ecclesiastical. Michael Angell, church operations director at Ecclesiastical, said: “I’m really pleased that we are able to sponsor this event which I’m sure will prove just as popular as Ian Anderson’s previous Christmas performances. Cathedrals are a wonderful setting in which to enjoy music and with so many events cancelled over the last year it will be good to look forward to a live performance and I am sure it’ll be a very special evening.”
