The Feast of Candlemas
Did you know that Christmas doesn’t officially end until the Feast of Candlemas? This year the feast day is on Sunday 2 February, and our 18.00 special service takes a glimpse back to Christmas and looks forward to the Cross of Good Friday.
All are welcome to attend.
What is Candlemas?
Candlemas not only marks the end of the 40-day long Christmas season but also reminds us of another part of Jesus’s early life. As was tradition at the time, Jesus’s parents took him to be presented at the temple. Is it recorded that the prophet Simeon recognised something in the infant Jesus and proclaims that he is indeed the Messiah, the long promised light to the world and saviour.
