Treecycle
Now Christmas is over there’s the perennial question of what to do with the tree now that the decorations have been put away and it’s shedding its needles!
Well here’s an idea that is convenient, cheap and helps both the environment and a popular Lichfield charity.
Lichfield Cathedral is to be a drop off point for the annual St Giles Hospice Treecycle sheme.
You can take your tree to the cathedral to be chipped in return for a donation to the hospice between 9am and 12noon on Saturday January 12th.
By taking part in the annual St Giles Treecycle campaign, families and businesses can recycle their trees in a convenient, environmentally-friendly way while helping to support local hospice services.
St Giles Hospice Fundraising Events Manager Chloe Herbert said: “Treecycle is a fantastic, popular fundraising event which helps people to get rid of their trees and raises money to support our vital work.
In January 2018, Treecycle raised more than £11,000 for St Giles, which supports people with a potentially incurable illness and their families.
The chippings from real trees can be recycled and will be used by Greener Composting in Wall, Lichfield. Treecycle is also supported by Lichfield Tree Works Ltd, DHL, Darwin Electricals and Downes & Daughters.
