Rewilding at Lichfield Cathedral

In the Spring 2023, children from Lichfield Cathedral School, assisted by volunteers at Lichfield Cathedral, planted over 300 whips in front of the east wall of the cathedral grounds.
The rewilding project saw the northern section planted with yew and holly, and a mixture of native deciduous whips for the more sunny southern section.
Growing to over 1.1m, the planting will provide a rich habitat for local wildlife and act as a natural barrier to enhance safety near the old stone wall.
The next stage includes a pathway around the Deans Walk and wildflowers between the trees.
