ECO - Re>Dress

Earlier this month, we enjoyed an evening of fashion, fun, and facts about the clothing industry, hosted by the Dean.

Local vicar, Abbie Walsh, set the scene by recounting her involvement in an earlier event. Then eight members of the cathedral community took to the catwalk, modeling outfits purchased for £20 from charity shops. Styles varied from utilitarian to flamboyant, casual to elegant.

Vicky James, of Transition Lichfield, talked of how repairing clothes is at the core of sustainability. Finally, Lindsey Hall shared both her personal experience and the wider context of exploitation and excessive consumerism within the textile trade.

People stayed on for thought-provoking discussions – a most enjoyable time, with a serious edge.
