The daily life of the Cathedral is the responsibility of the Dean, Residentiary Canons, and other members who constitute the Chapter of Lichfield Cathedral.
They are joined in their work by the College of Canons (a number of senior priests from the Diocese of Lichfield), the full and part time lay staff and the volunteers.

The BishopThe Rt Revd Dr Michael Ipgrave was enthroned as the 99th Bishop of Lichfield on 24 September 2016. |
DeanThe Rt Revd Jan McFarlane, previously Bishop of Repton in the Diocese of Derby, was installed as Canon Custos in July 2020 when she was also installed as Honorary Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Lichfield. In April of 2023 Bishop Jan was licensed as Interim Dean of Lichfield and was installed as Dean of Lichfield on 21 September 2024. |

Canon Chancellor(Education and Outreach) The Revd Canon Dr Gregory Platten, previously vicar of All Saints’ Friern Barnet and Area Dean of Central and West Barnet Deaneries in the Diocese of London, was installed and collated as Canon Chancellor of Lichfield Cathedral in July 2020. |
Chapter
The Chapter of Lichfield Cathedral is the governing body of the Cathedral. Chapter is formed of both clergy and lay people who together have the general control and management of the administration of the Chapter. Members of Chapter are the charity trustees for the purposes of the Charities Act 2011.
