About Us Who's Who
Who's Who
The daily life of the Cathedral is the responsibility of the Dean, three Residentiary Canons, and the four lay members who constitute the Chapter of Lichfield Cathedral. They are supported by the Cathedral Council whose twenty members are either elected, or nominated by the Bishop of Lichfield.
They are also joined in their work by the College of Canons (a number of senior priests from the Diocese of Lichfield), the full and part time lay staff and the volunteers. For a fuller description of the clergy hierarchy, please see this article.
Lichfield Cathedral has a lively and growing congregation and the Chapter lead a pastoral and teaching ministry which builds up the fellowship and equips members to play their part in the mission of the church and the service of God in the world.

The Bishop
The Right Reverend Jonathan Gledhill was enthroned as the 98th Bishop of Lichfield in the Cathedral on November 15th 2003.
The Dean
The Very Revd Adrian Dorber was installed as Dean on 24th September 2005.
The Dean has overall charge of the Cathedral.
The Canon Precentor
The Revd Canon Wealands Bell, was installed on 22 September 2007.
The Canon Precentor oversees the Choral Foundation of the Cathedral.
The Canon Chancellor
The Revd Canon Dr Anthony Moore, was installed on 19th January 2013.
The Canon Chancellor is responsible for the Cathedral’s ministries of education and outreach and for overseeing the work of those who welcome visitors to the Cathedral.
The Canon Treasurer and Acting Custos
The Venerable Christopher Liley was installed as Archdeacon of Lichfield on 3rd March, 2001.
The Treasurer is responsible for the treasure of the Cathedral, its robes, silver, and bells, among other things.
He is also acting Custos and is responsible for the fabric of the Cathedral, and the buildings of the Cathedral Close.
