Fin-tastic Families
Inspired by the Cathedral's Whales installation and Ocean Photographer of the Year, this summer's family activities celebrate the wonders of life beneath the waves.
Throughout the six-week school holiday, children, families and visitors of all ages are invited to help create a vibrant underwater world. Each week, try a different craft and add a new sea creature to our growing Fin-tastic Families display. From shivers of sharks to galaxies of starfish and much more, every creation will become part of a community artwork that grows across the summer.

A Whale of a Summer Send Off

Join us for a special celebration marking the end of our Fin-tastic Families summer crafts.
After six weeks of crafts and creativity, we'll bring together the hundreds of sea creatures made by our visitors to create a spectacular underwater display filled with colourful marine life. There will be plenty of opportunities to add your own creations on the day, alongside new crafts and activities for the whole family.
With art, imagination and oceans of fun for all ages, plus performances and activities from the Circo Rum Ba Ba theatre troupe, it's a wonderful way to celebrate the end of the summer holidays.

The Whale! Circus Show with Puppets
Presented by Circo Rum Ba Ba

Bold explorers are invited to squeeze inside an enormous inflatable whale and experience a captivating story of beautiful sea creatures and their battle to survive in an ocean full of rubbish.
Featuring exquisite puppets, comedy and music, this unforgettable show explores how we can all play a part in protecting our oceans.
Suitable for children aged 3-10. All children must be accompanied by a paying adult.*

* There are a limited number of tickets for each show which is aimed at young children. We therefore ask that, if possible, only one adult per family attends with the children, so we can accommodate as many children inside the whale as possible please. Thank you.
Fun & Faith: Jonah and the Whale

Laugh, sing, create and learn with Fun & Faith this summer as we dive into the story of Jonah and the Whale.
These fun-filled family sessions include games, crafts and interactive Bible storytelling. Together, we'll explore Jonah's incredible journey and discover themes of faith, courage and second chances.
The adventure doesn't end there. Continue the story with our Journey with Jonah Trail, available throughout the summer holidays.

Journey with Jonah Trail

A giant whale. A wild storm. A runaway prophet.
Join Jonah on a family adventure around the cathedral this summer. Follow the trail, complete challenges, discover hidden corners, and find out what happened when Jonah tried to run away from God.
With things to spot, questions to think about and activities to try along the way, it's a fun way for children and grown-ups to explore the cathedral together.

Poppies Stitch Club
Be part of something truly special at Lichfield Cathedral - a community-wide creative project, in partnership with The Fabric Vault, aiming to create a breathtaking (and hopefully record-breaking!) sweeping installation of handmade poppies.
