Birmingham Festival Choral Society

Birmingham Festival Choral Society

Brahms: A German Requiem
Finzi: Lo, the Full Final Sacrifice

Conductor: David Wynne
Soprano: Louise Wayman
Baritone: James Davies
Accompanists: Kevin Gill and Stephen Hargreaves

The Birmingham Festival Choral Society, one of the region’s leading choirs, will perform these two choral favourites on 2nd July.

The Requiem, sung in German and with Brahms’ own two-pianist accompaniment, draws on texts from the Protestant Lutheran Bible, unlike many other religious works which use the Catholic liturgy. It is written for the living, to comfort the bereaved.

Finzi’s anthem, inspired by hymns of St Thomas Aquinas, is a lively and beautiful celebration of the Eucharist.

Tickets (£14) are available from the choir’s website www.bfcs.org.uk/concerts
