Our “Pilgrimages for Schools,” inspired by the life of St Chad, explore Pilgrimage as a practice of faith and as a wider metaphor for life’s journey and learning. We have four topics covered by our pilgrimages which can be adapted to each key stage.
A Pilgrimage discovering Lichfield Cathedral
The Cathedral in our community; the history and people related to and remembered within, plus an overview of Christian belief and practice.
An Anglo-Saxon Pilgrimage
Focusing upon the Anglo-Saxons and Anglo-Saxon pilgrimage practice, the founding of the Cathedral itself and what it teaches us of Anglo-Saxon culture. Looking at the life of St Chad.
A Pilgrimage of Spirituality
Looking at the spiritual nature and practice of Pilgrimage, life of St Chad, an overview of Christian faith and practices and their place in the modern world.
A Pilgrimage of Signs and Symbols
Lichfield Cathedral’s history with greater references made to/activities based on signs and symbols used within the Cathedral, the Christian faith, pilgrimage and the wider world.
