'Give a gift’ at Lichfield Cathedral
Christmas is a time when we traditionally think of those who are less fortunate than ourselves and a special ‘Give a Gift’ service at Lichfield Cathedral on Sunday 12 December at 3pm will give the opportunity to turn those thoughts into practical action.
The Dean of Lichfield, the Very Revd Adrian Dorber said, “As in recent years, we will be collecting gifts at the service in support of the Pathway Project and also the Lichfield Foodbank. Both these organisations work within our local communities to provide direct support to families at their time of need. Its good to be able to give generously to their work, in imitation of the God who gives so generously to us.”
The Pathway Project works to support adults, young people and children, who are experiencing or are affected by domestic abuse. Pathway aims to maintain an excellent standard of safe, well-furnished accommodation, providing a secure, homely environment in which people can take time to make life decisions. This year the project invites those attending to bring suitable gifts for children over 10 years old. These gifts should be (because of regulations) brand new and should not be wrapped. The project uses these gifts throughout the year in the support of families who sometimes arrive with absolutely nothing.
The Foodbank asks for donations to be based not on traditional Christmas food, but on tins and dried foods which can be used throughout the winter months. Click here for more information.
