Remember a Life in the Cathedral and at Home 13-20 Dec
Every evening from 13-20 December we would like to light 200 lanterns in the Cathedral in memory of local people, past worshippers, or friends and family of the Cathedral community who have died recently or some time ago. The lanterns will be lit each afternoon from the 14 December at 1530 until the end of Evening Prayer at 1630. A card will be placed in front of each lantern bearing the name of the person commemorated.
If you would like to dedicate a lantern please complete the form available in the Cathedral (or on the website) from 3 December (10:00-12:30 & 13:30-16:00 Monday-Saturday, 12:30-16:00 Sunday) and return it to the Dean’s PA, Sue Chapman, at the Deanery Office, 16 The Close, Lichfield WS13 7LD with a suggested donation of £5.00, which is payable by cheque only, for each lantern (to cover costs). (Please make cheques payable to Lichfield Cathedral). In exchange we ask you to collect on Sunday 13 December an electronic T light for you to light at home and a prayer card for you to use at home.
The lanterns will first be lit at the Vigil on Sunday 13 December 1900-2100. At the Vigil you can also have the name of a loved one (Christian/first names) written on a bauble that will be put on two specially prepared trees. These two small rituals help us make something beautiful out of loss and sadness. Please use them as you feel appropriate.
