Anne Boleyn at the Cathedral

Saturday 10 February | 19.00
Join us for an evening with one of England's most famous Queens, performed by historian and curator of Tutbury Castle, Lesley Smith.
Scene
May, 1536. Awaiting her execution in the Tower of London, Anne Boleyn is accused of adultery and treason, and has failed to produce an heir to the English throne. In these last 45 minutes of her life, Anne reflects in anguish on her failed marriage to Henry and how quickly her fortunes have changed.
Character Notes
Anne Boleyn, second wife and Queen to King Henry VIII and mother to Queen Elizabeth I, has been portrayed as a cunning and manipulative woman. In truth, Anne was a highly educated, profoundly religious person caught in the intrigue of the Tudor court.
Lesley Smith has been curator of Tutbury Castle in Staffordshire since 2000. She is a medical historian and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries (Scot.). She has appeared in over 120 television programmes, including The One Show and The Worst Jobs in History with Tony Robinson.
Tickets £10 including a glass of prosecco are available online or through The Shop at No. 9, The Close. Please note there will be a 50p booking fee for each ticket when purchasing online. This event is not suitable for children under 16.
