Standing Up for Aleppo
On Sunday 18 December the Dean of Lichfield, The Very Reverend Adrian Dorber, called on the Cathedral Community to do 4 distinct things to show solidarity and sympathy with the suffering people of Aleppo:
1 to fast between the hours of sunrise and sunset on Wednesday 21 December and to pray on the hour each hour for the people of Aleppo and for peace in Syria.
2 to light a candle and display it prominently in a window in each home as a sign of hope in the terrible darkness of Aleppo’s devastation.
3 to make a donation to the Red Cross or to Medecins sans Frontieres (MSF) to bring medical care and relief to what is effectively a war zone.
4 to write to our MP and the Foreign Secretary deploring the stance taken by western nations to the civil war in Syria and calling for effective humanitarian and peace-bringing measures.
