Lichfield Cathedral Shop supports Fairtrade City
The Lichfield Cathedral Shop has introduced a new Fairtrade Cathedral Chocolate Bar to its range of existing ethical products.
Since Lichfield was announced as a Fairtrade City in 2008, the Cathedral Shop has worked hard to develop their extensive range of ethical products. The Shop stocks many locally sourced and fairly traded products, including honey, candles, mugs, and toiletries. The Fairtrade chocolate will be the second Fairtrade product in- store, joining the Lichfield Cathedral Coffee.
The coffee, a Fairtrade-certified blend of finest Arabica world coffees, was launched in 2012 by The Very Rev’d Adrian Dorber, Dean of Lichfield. Each coffee purchase helps to raise funds to tackle the spread of HIV/AIDS in South Africa.
Fairtrade ensures that workers in developing countries are provided with good working conditions, as well as a fair and stable price for their products.
The Cathedral chocolate comes from accredited Fairtrade organisation, The Meaningful Chocolate Company, who pride themselves on being passionate about ethical trading. In addition to producing solely Fairtrade products, The Meaningful Chocolate Company contributes to the Fairtrade Growers Premium, which gives growers a cash bonus to allow them to further improve their communities.
Store Manager, Ann Waller says: “We’re delighted that our Lichfield Cathedral Fairtrade Chocolate Bar has now arrived, we’ve been looking forward to it for a long time. We want to ensure that we continue to support locally produced and fairly traded products within this Fairtrade City.”
The new milk chocolate treat retails at £2.99 and is expected to be a shop favourite. For more information about the Lichfield Cathedral chocolate, please visit the Shop at No.9 The Close or call 01543 306150.
