Mothering Sunday
Mothering Sunday dates back hundreds of years, when people would visit their 'mother' church during Lent. This was often the one day a year when young people in service were allowed home to visit their families, sometimes bringing gifts of spring flowers or a cake. The tradition of visiting your mother church was called 'mothering'.
For Christians, we are reminded that while God is our Father in Heaven, His love also bears the mark of a mother's care.
While we will miss welcoming families to the Cathedral to celebrate Mothering Sunday, here you can find an activity to complete at home. Click on the link below to download our printable resources for making your own Mothering Sunday card.
