WORSHIP AT HOME
The Cathedral Clergy will be maintaining the daily offering of prayer during the current situation where public worship is not possible.
At our customary times the offices of morning and evening prayer will be said. These services, as they always do, will include prayers. These include prayers for the world and its people and for our own country and communities. We will be praying for you and we invite you to pray with us at these regular times.
Daily Prayer App
There are, for those who have access to mobiles devices, downloadable apps that each day give you access to the Church of England’s Daily Prayer which is the liturgy we use daily in the Cathedral. The app is free to use whilst you are online, but a subscription is payable if you need the app off-line.
Other Online Resources
For those who do not have access to online apps the services of the church of England are available on the Church of England Website. To use these resources you will need to have access to a Bible and a Lectionary (this gives you the psalms and readings by date) However, and much easier is the website: www.oremus.org which gives the equivalent of the Daily Prayer app and does not require any downloading.
Spiritual Communion
The Church of England has provided a Guide to Spiritual Communion. The term ‘Spiritual Communion’ has been used historically to describe the means of grace by which a person, prevented for some serious reason from sharing in a celebration of the Eucharist, nonetheless shares in the communion of Jesus Christ.
