From time to time the Cathedral may need to close its doors to visitors due to a special service, filming or maintenance.  We know that some people travel long distances to visit us so we would always recommend you call 01543 306100 to check before travelling and please also see the events calendar.

Forthcoming closures

Tuesday 14 February

Please note that the Chapter House will be closed on Tuesday 14 February due to exhibition maintenance and therefore there will be no access to the St Chad Gospels or the Lichfield Angel. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Sunday 19 February

Access to the Cathedral on 19 February will be restricted owing to the visit of Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, for the service of thanksgiving for the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen's Accession. Attendance at Evensong will be restricted to those who have been allocated tickets, and sight-seeing limited to the very west end of the Cathedral.

Vehicle access

Vehicular access to The Close will be suspended between 12 noon and approx. 5pm.
