Fundraising Ideas
Thank you for taking the time to consider raising money for Lichfield Cathedral's East End Appeal by 'adopting a gargoyle'. Below are listed a few ideas of how the school may raise the money. We are aiming for £1 per child, but whatever money is raised will be gratefully received. You may have other ideas of how to raise the money. To donate your money go to www.lichfieldgargoyles.mosaicappeal.com, each mosaic tile can be bought for £50. As each tile is bought the picture will gradually light up showing a number of new gargoyles.
Some fundraising ideas:
- Hold a non uniform/home clothes day.
- Using a hose pipe to fire a jet of water from a gargoyles mouth. Who can shoot the furthest? Who can hit a target?
- Ask people to bring in any spare coins. Use these to cover a picture of your adopted gargoyle.
- Create a treasure map using the image of your adopted gargoyle. Guess the square of the hidden treasure.
- Laminate 2 sets of gargoyle images. Attach one set to a board. Place prizes on top of some of these. People select a card from the other set. If this matches a winning image on the board they win the prize.
- Create your own paper mosaic appeal by using the image of your adopted gargoyle. Choose the number of squares the picture is divided into and cost for each one.
How the Mosaic works
- Schools or classes can pay to 'light up' a tile in the Gargoyle 'virtual mosaic'.
- Each donor can add a message or dedication and these appear when a visitor to the site 'scrolls-over' the tile.
- The donors' details and dedication are also played continuously on the front page of the mosaic.
- Each tile costs £50 - there are 864 tiles.
- We invite each school or class to raise funds to pay for one tile or more and get involved with our competitions.
- The easiest way to get involved is to log on to www.lichfieldgargoyles.mosaicappeal.com
- Then select your tiles(s) and follow the online instructions.
- If you do not want to pay online, please choose your tile and make your donation by post. As this method will take a few days, please select two tiles in case your first preference is no longer available when we receive your form. Please make out a cheque to Lichfield Cathedral, complete the form (please click here to download) and return it to Judith Ayton, Fundraising Officer.
